Earth Month might be over, but it’s never too late to say thank you to the waste and recycling workers keeping our communities clean day in and day out, even in the midst of a pandemic. Now more than ever, we know that our welfare is intimately tied to the well-being of our planet.
In most cities, recycling is still considered an essential service and operating as usual. From those picking up our waste and recycling to those at recycling sorting facilities, we want to thank you for your dedication to keeping our communities clean. Thanks to your efforts, recyclables like cartons can still go on to become in-demand paper products like toilet paper, tissues and paper towels rather than end up in landfills. Check out our blog for more on how recycling cartons provides much-needed fiber for paper products like toilet paper.
From a social distant window, we recently had the privilege of saying thank you to Michael, a waste collector in San Francisco. Every community has essential workers like Michael who make it possible for us to still care for our planet during the coronavirus pandemic.
Here are a few ways to share your gratitude and appreciation for these essential workers:
- Recycle Right: When we recycle correctly, we protect our essential recycling workers from harmful materials which can cause injuries and even fires.
- Print out this Thank You Poster: Display in your window or near (not on) your recycling cart/bin.
- Print out this kid-friendly Thank You Poster: Encourage your kids to color the sign, let them know why recycling is important, then display it in a window or post it near (not on) your recycling cart/bin. (Thanks to our friends at the Recycling Partnership for this one!)
- Send a digital Thank You Card on social media: Add your personal message to your recycling hero then post using #RecycleYourCartons.
- Version for Instagram Story
- Version for Facebook, Twitter and Instagram Post
- Make your own card: Use whatever craft supplies you have on hand to make a sign, then display it in your window or near (not on) your recycling cart/bin.
